Up at 6 am. We have a scheduled haul-out for the boat at 8:30.
Actual time 8:37, so right on time. After hauling the boat out they power wash it, and we checked in to the yard. Reneé took a walk, and I just hung out.
We talked to Peter Vargas who will coordinate the work being done.
– [ ] Touch up the bottom paint
– [ ] Install two transducers (boat speed & depth) these replace the old ones and are larger in size. They will work better with our new instruments
– [ ] While talking to Peter, we identified the thru hull bonding has an issue, which is why the bottom paint has an issue. So, that will be addressed as well.
– [ ] There are some other issues that we will address as well, they don’t require the boat being hauled out.
We can’t stay on the boat in the yard, so we have reservations at the La Cruz inn, which is nearby.
At 1025 our boat was on the hard on stands. We will see when work starts.
As the day went on, the roller furler for the staysail was repaired! Another guy showed up to work on the speed and depth transducers. This of course meant tearing apart the nav station and the settee to get at the run for the wires.
Reneé took the laundry in and I stayed on the boat to answer questions from anyone who was looking to do something.
I had a couple of questions for the RayMarine person who installed my system earlier this year (last season). He has stopped responding at this point. I spent about $15,000 then, at the end I needed three more pieces about $700 we agreed that I would get them sent to me in the states and install them myself later. I asked a question about something that he did inside the panel at the Nav Station. He said since I bought the stuff somewhere else, I should ask them the question. This question was about something he did. Needless to say, no more recommendations for him from me.
At the end of the day, the Staysail furler is fixed, the depth and speed sensors are installed in the bottom of the boat, the cable is run for the depth, but not for the speed. I am looking for parts. Much of the touch up of the bottom paint is done.
We left the boat about 5:30pm. We are checked in to the La Cruz inn. This is a nice place. We came back, I got a shower and we went to dinner at La Cocina Economica dinner was pretty inexpensive and good. Then back to the hotel and an early night, as there is very weak internet.
