Neil and Renee’ Scheuerlein
Hello,
I have not updated this page in a few years, so this is a complete rewrite March 1st, 2025.
Our original plan had been to get the boat in San Diego, sail south and through the Panama Canal and get to Florida and put the boat in our back yard in New Port Richey Florida (Near Tampa). Well….. that is not what happened.
We sailed south from San Diego in November 2019. We went north into the Sea of Cortez and took the boat to Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point) which is at the north east end of the Sea. This is about a 4 hour drive from Phoenix or Tucson. We left the boat during hurricane season then returned for our second season and sailed south as far as Puerto Vallarta. We left the boat in Paradise Village for the hurricane season 2020, where we ordered new sails. Then sailed more a little bit further south and north and left the boat in Paradise Village for the 2021 hurricane season. In 2022, the stock market tanked, and we made the decision to go back to work for 2023. So, we sailed north into the Sea of Cortez and left the boat on the hard in Puerto Peñasco for all of 2023.
2023 was a really big year for us, we worked in Missouri, sold our house in Florida, bought a house in Tennessee and moved all our stuff (ok almost all) to one location (Some had been in Florida, Missouri, California and of course still on the boat), the house in Tennessee.
In January 2024, we got the boat back in the water, and headed south to Puerto Vallarta, along the way, we got new electronics. We again left the boat in Paradise Village for the hurricane season and flew back to our new home in Tennessee. This year we discussed with Reneé’s family what was going to happen with Bonnie, her mother. Reneé and I have discussed options about this for years, and the one that got selected was to sell the boat and move Bonnie into our home with us in Tennessee. So, to make that happen, we bought an enclosed trailer and towed it from Savannah Tennessee to Puerto Peñasco (PP) then flew to Puerto Vallarta (PV). The plan for this year (2025) is to get the boat from PV to PP, unload it and then sail south to PV and put it in a slip and put it up for sale. There are some complications, for example we don’t have a slip in PV, yet. We are on several waiting lists and we are hopeful.
