Tuesday May 31, 2022 Paradise Village Marina

Up and breakfast, the net bible, reading and a lazy day on the boat, welding and grinding on the arch. The wood worker showed up at lunch time and we talked through what needs to be done.

Then at 4 we headed over to the pool for happy hour and a swim. Like I said a very quiet day.

On our way to the pool, we saw this on a neighbors boat. We will definitely put bottles on the lines to make it harder for these guys to get on board.

Up and breakfast, the net and Reneé was off the boat by about 8 am. On Friday one of our fellow sailors (Danny) here in the marina had a stroke, and went to the hospital here in Paradise Village (we walk by it daily). He was examined and had a variety of test which identified that he has a tumor (benign) in his brain, behind his left ear. He is scheduled for surgery today at 4 pm. Reneé is headed to the hospital down town to give blood in his name. We have electrical work, and welding scheduled today, so I have to stay here. The work on the boat progressed well, and it was a very long day for Reneé.

It took her about 1 & 1/4 hours to get to the hospital, and she was there from 9:15 to 11:50, back to the boat 2 or later. She went to Sam’s and Walmart on the way.

Danny’s surgery went well, and the Doctor said he got the whole tumor.

At about 4 pm we headed over to the pool and happy hour. While there we met two other couples on boats, and set up a game of Mexican Train Thursday night at 6 pm.

Then back to the boat, showers and bed.

This is a store that I think I need to shop at

Up at 7, breakfast and off the boat at about 8:55, up to catch the bus to Walmart and then the bus to church. This is the first time we have ridden this particular bus from Paradise Village to Walmart. As Reneé put it, she wanted to hand over an E ticket for the ride. We definitely caught the express bus. Instead of the normal 20-25 minutes, we were standing at Walmart for the next bust at 9:13. That was a very fast ride!

After church we went to brunch with a half dozen other people from church and then walked through the market to Cedraui the competition to Walmart here in Mexico, to get some beer, as we are getting low on the boat again. Then two bus rides back to the boat, and afternoon naps. Then a late afternoon trip to the pool, and back to the boat by 8:30 or so.

This is our temperature station, the top temp is the temp inside the boat, so 75, with 50% humidity, the lower left is the temp outside the boat (in the shade) 78 degrees and 79% humidity, the next two are the freezer and fridge. Oh, this picture was taken at 8:55 AM.

This was the beer we had a lunch, a little too bitter for our taste.

Up at 7, Reneé is making quiche for breakfast. We are near the bottom of the inservice propane tank and the smell of rotten eggs is very strong. Too much to handle, so we swapped tanks, and for good measure, started the water maker, which means A/C off, and all windows and hatches open.

Reneé did laundry, which involves taking the laundry up to the laundromat, and hanging out for a few hours. This time she was all by herself, no one else was washing clothes today.

Eddie the guy helping with the winches, texted to say he would not be here today. He will come back on Tuesday at 9 am.

The welders are here to continue working on the arch. (0930).

I filled the water tank, and that was all we did.

Up at 7, breakfast, the net and bible reading. Then off to the marine store, which was closed, I called the numbers on the door, but was unsuccessful in getting through. I went to the marina office, and they were able to get in touch with the guy. He will bring chlorine tablets from his pool at home when he comes in, as he doesn’t sell them. I have to say again, how helpful the Mexican people are!

Today, Eddie was the first one here, and he worked on the winch we broke, then Charlie who worked on the air conditioner, then the welders showed up and put the frame up for the solar panels. Eddie said he would be back tomorrow.

Reneé went Walmart looking for fabric for a project she has in mind, didn’t find what she wanted so oh well.

After all the dust settled, it was after 5, so no pool time today/. After dinner, I called a friend and chatted for awhile, Reneé tried to read, then at about 8:45pm we went up to the amphitheater to watch the magic show, then back to the boat, showers and bed.

We saw a snake at the showers tonight (very small, the snake is on a tile floor, the lines are the grout)
