Line handling

We woke up about normal, slowly getting around to doing stuff. Had our breakfast and did our devotions. The port captain came by about 11 or so, told us that the medical group would be by and check us and that would be the end of our quarantine! Then he said we need to go and pay our fee at the bank and bring our receipt to the office. The hours are 9 am to 1 pm. So, about 1 or so the medical people came by and took our temperature and told us we were good to go. We went to the bank and paid our fees.

We walked the docks and talked to a bunch of people, and went to the boatyard. By this time we have talked to Salvador about hauling out on the 10th at 5 pm with high tide. This time (on the 9th) I said that perhaps we could come out today, he was pretty happy with that answer, as he is getting backed up on haul outs. They only haul out at high tide and that means that they have to wait until high tide and do the haul out, even though the yard closes at 3, they come back and do the haul at 5 or later. At low tide the haul out basin is empty, at high tide there is about 20 feet of water in the basin, so it does make a difference.

Bottom line, we hauled out on June 9th. We moved around the yard a bit as they tried to keep us from getting painted by the other boats. We have gotten new cushions for the cockpit and repaired the Dodger (the caves and vinyl windows at the front of the cockpit). Very reasonable price and great work!

We went out to dinner with Mike from S/V My Song (he was across the dock from us and helped us out quite a bit). The food was pretty good and the service was excellent. This was the first day that the restaurant was open for customers. Jill’s Joint. Afterwards back to the boat and a good nights sleep (hot) on the hard.

We do have room for guests, if anyone is interested in visiting and spending a week or so with us, drop us a line and we will coordinate. What you have to do/have is you need a passport and will need to be able to get to where we are when you are going to be down. When we know what time frame you are thinking about we can let you know where we expect to be so that you can make your travel arrangements.
