Up at 0600, underway by 6:37 to pump out the holding tank for the last time and then to the haul out at 9 am. Of course, they called when we were a mile + off shore to come early! We arrived about 08:30 and they got us out right away. So far so good! First stop is to see the mast pull location. Bad news, their equipment is too small and they can’t do it. On to plan B, which we don’t have yet…
Well, Allan Smith the project coordinator here for us, communicated with Carlos a guy who works on boats, he has a crane and he will be in the area today to look it over and see if his crane can do the job. If not, we will have to have a crane brought up from Guaymas about 20 miles away. They should he here by 3 pm to look it over. I am still on the boat working through the list to get the boat ready to leave it for an extended stay.

This is the tractor that pulls the boat out of the water.
Here is the boat headed out.
He is guiding the boat
Out on the hard and headed to the Marina Seca (dry)

Up at 6:50 am. Breakfast and review the list. Today, we will walk to church then come back for lunch and get stuff done. Pickling the water maker, cleaning strainers packing some more. Etc.
after dinner we will get an uber to take us and some of our stuff to the house we are renting in town.
We got most everything moved to the house. Then we took the taxi back to the boat. We talked to the driver about taking us all the way to Puerto Peñasco on Friday. We will see what he says. We offered him 11,000 pesos. Which is what the rental company was offering. But, we would have to pay in advance which means a taxi ride down to Guaymas to pay tomorrow. Also, the rental company is a big company, if we make the deal with the driver all the money goes to him, he doesn’t just get part of it.
Finally, showers and downtime.

Up at 6, reviewed list of what to do. After lunch I filled the water tank, of course water pressure was an issue, so I ran the booster pump. While that was going on, I pulled the cables for the Radar power and data back to the base of the mast.
When we were done (about 5 pm) I went and got a shower then joined Reneé and Chris and Jessica from SV Blue Pearl at Tortugas restaurant. A very good day.

Up at 6:30 or so. Breakfast and get ready for the day. Kevin came over at 8 am and we got the mainsail down, folded and put away. I worked on washing the bilges out and Salvadore came down and worked on the speakers for the arch (they work now!!!) we found out that the spare fan we have been hauling around (that I bought at a swap meet) was no good. Oh well. The only thing he wasn’t able to fix today was the GPS for the VHF radio. It will be one of the those things….
We looked at options for getting all our stuff to the truck. The bus is a 10 hour ride to Sonoyta, which is an hour north of Puerto Peñasco, and arrives at 1:30 am. We would have to take a taxi to a hotel either in Sonoyta, (or Puerto Peñasco), then a shuttle to Puerto Peñasco. There doesn’t appear to be any rental cars that are one way. We have already explored flying, there’s no airport near Puerto Peñasco. Mexicali is 8 to 10 hours by bus, Phoenix is 4 hours by shuttle, etc. Oh, and we have at least 3 really big bags, 2 backpacks, a couple of small bags as well. One of the rental car places here in San Carlos said they could drive us one way for $550. We might need a bigger vehicle than the small car they quoted. That sounds like a lot of money, but compared to the bus trip, 6 hours one way, delivered to our truck. We would get there in one day, stay overnight in Puerto Peñasco (probably) get up the next day rested and drive back into the states. On the bus, the first day we would get to Sonoyta, spend the night in a hotel, shuttle to Puerto Peñasco, getting there early afternoon of the second day. Spend the night in Puerto Peñasco, get up and drive into the states. Cost comparison, driver about $600. Bus ($88*2‎ = ), taxi from the bus to the hotel $20, hotel in Sonoyta $100 (+/-) total about $300.

Up at 6:30, breakfast then we worked on sails. We got the Staysail down and folded, then the Jib wow is that a bunch of work. We got it down on deck then bundled up and over to the dock where we opened it back up and then folded it and rolled it up. By that time, the wind had started to come up and we elected to do the mainsail tomorrow. I gave the gasoline to another cruiser, now I just have the two cycle gasoline to get rid of. After lunch we had 20+ knots of wind, so we are working on stuff inside and we are going to take the laundry in. We did our bible reading after lunch.
The laundry got in and the Hornbacks came in on SV Catharpin Blue. We saw Kevin, he came in with their dog and took him for a walk and we went to the restaurant Tortugas for dinner with the cruisers in the area.
Then back to the boat wind down and go to bed.
