March 23rd, 2025 Sunday day (San Juanico to Santispac)

Published 03/28/2025
Up at 5:30 underway shortly after 6. Breakfast underway. Then we listened to the service from Gracepoint in Savannah, TN. We saw a pod of dolphins, and a turtle or two. Virtually no wind all day, the water was like glass.
We got to Santispac and anchored about 3 pm. We’re in 30 feet of water. The water is 74 degrees, because of the shape of this bay there is almost never a swell.
We plan to stay 2 or 3 days. Tomorrow we are going in to Mulege a nearby town. Some friends (Lisa & Patrick, SV Soulmate from Kingman AZ) are going in for dental work, and we are splitting cab fare. There’s a good brewery here, and we are about out of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Lisa & Patrick came over, Lisa first, and we played some Mexican train then she went back in her dinghy and got Patrick and we had dinner. They left about 7 pm and we finally got to bed about 9.

Note the glassy water, oops! what is that?
A little closer….

Up at 6 am, breakfast the watched the sunrise, bible reading and relaxing for a bit. Reneé watched several boats leave, so there are only 5 boats here now.
I talked to my brother and texted with a friend for a bit, then around 10:30 we took the kayak ashore for a hike and lunch.

Upon further review… we were here in 2020, our first trip and again in 2022. Probably more.

Reneé caught a fish. She was using “prunes” for bait. She got another trigger fish. This was a little smaller than the last one.
It was big enough for fish tacos! Awesome!

Just another sunrise
A view of the cruisers tree. We put something here with our boat name on it the first time we came through in 2020. We could not find it this time.
Our boat is out there.

March 21st, 2025 Friday day (Punta Colorado on Isla Carmen to San Juanico)

We were up at 5:30, underway by 6 am. We watched the sun come up, flat seas and a very light breeze (less than 4 knots).
This morning Reneé put out her pole, and decided it would be a good idea to have a knife on deck. Either to cut the line, or kill the fish. We talked about it, but i did not get the one i thought was best out, when i went below. It is buried in one of the tool bags. So, she went and got a pocket knife. No I more than 5 minutes later she snagged a big fish, her line started running out fast, she cut the line, and she changed poles. This is the first time in our time in Mexico that has happened.
We anchored at San Juanico about 1:30, in 16 feet of water. This is about as shallow as we have anchored (except Barra de Navidad).

Our anchor plot, we have been moving around a bit

March 20th, 2025 Thursday day (Punta Colorado on Isla Carmen)

Up at 6:30, breakfast and we are going to run a load of laundry so we started the generator to warm up the water after breakfast then waited a bit and sorted and started a load of shirts and underwear. We have 8 days to go until we will be in Santa Rosalia and laundry for everything.
It’s pretty dry here, 26% humidity. The clothes were dry very quickly. Folded and put away. I put the charger on the engine start battery, I really need to fix that, so it’s just always charging when the engine is running.
Reneé saw some dolphins, and another boat (a catamaran) came into the anchorage.
About 5, I went over with the dinghy and got Tracy and Danelle. We had dinner and played some Mexican train. About dusk I took them back, then Reneé and I put the dinghy away and cleaned up the boat in preparation for getting underway in the morning. We did some reading then headed off to bed, it’s much calmer tonight.

No pictures today.

March 19th, 2025 Wednesday day (Punta Colorado on Isla Carmen)

Up at 6:30, we actually slept pretty well, considering the weather. We had our breakfast and missed our bible reading, we got busy coordinating going to the beach with our neighbors. We got our dinghy down and went over to their boat SV Parable and picking them up, then a short ride to the beach and we picked part way up the mountain that is this island. Afterwards we took the dinghy out to the point to check water clarity and back to our boats (it was a wet ride). Then lunch on our respective boats and some down time. We went to their boat for dinner Lobster Alfredo very good! Then back to our boat around 6:30 before it got dark. We elected to leave the dinghy in the water, we put a cable and locks to lock it to the boat.
The only down thing that happened today was Tracy’s paddle board decided to take a trip and hasn’t been seen since. It had been tied to their boat, but it is pretty light and the wind was blowing it around and eventually it broke free. We have two, and have offered to sell them one.
