1/8/26 San Carlos, Marina Seca – Thursday

I found a better hotel, Sawari. It is 1600 pesos per night ($94) it is closer to Marina Seca, and has a restaurant that does breakfast. There was another option for a hotel that only cost $39 per night, but Joe and Vanessa both said DO NOT STAY THERE. So, here I am.  Good, closer to the boat, quiet, good restaurant for breakfast. Bad, the walls are thin and the next door person had the TV on until midnight, then again from 3 am. I had taken some NyQuil Z, so while I slept it was not great. I went out for dinner with Joe and Vanessa. I discussed work on the boat with Carlos (rigger), Alejandro (paint and fiberglass work) and Allan (Project Manager). It looks like Tuesday (1/13) for splashing the boat. That will give us about 3 days to get sails up and supplies on board. I found out that Steve Pepper sold his boat Brandon to another Steve here in San Carlos and that he is coming down to help Steve sail to Puerto Vallarta on about 1/19.

I went to Tortugas for the Thursday night cruisers gathering.  It was a pretty big crowd. This was the first time I saw Allan face to face this time around. This is fine with me, as the work he is doing for me doesn’t require meeting. Just making sure the right people are working on my boat. I met a new cruiser Joe Baron, his wife is home with the kids, and he is here getting the boat ready to sail. He sailed before Mexico to Hawaii to the PNW, then took 20+ years off. Now he has a new to him boat.
