April 12, Sunday, Puerto Don Juan, Easter

We woke up about 7:30 or so. It is Easter! The Lord is risen!

The weather is calm and clear, no waves, no wind, just gorgeous! We texted with a few friends and family, had breakfast and listened to a sermon. This one is the easter message from North Coast church from 2018. Pastor Chris Brown, titled A Holiday for Flowers and Fools.

It was a fairly quiet day, mostly spent reading and playing with the GO Pro, enjoying the calm. I Investigated the way the battery monitor works, and the inverter, learning that the inverter is a 2000 watt, not 2500 watts I thought that it was. I am not sure where I got the larger number, I went back and looked at the add for the boat, it only says it has an inverter, does not mention the size. Of course in looking through the add, I noted that it also says that the boat came with “ KVH TracVision G4 18″ SAT TV w/gyro trac & DirecTV HD receiver” these are not on the boat, and have not been since we got the boat. I am sure that there would be a cost for using Satellite TV. I don’t know if it is something we would want on the boat or not.

We had Christina and Michele from S/V Inia over for dinner. They have a 55-58 foot ketch and have been sailing for about 20 years. They sailed originally from France and have been to French Polynesia, the Caribbean and British Columbia etc. They speak French and very good English, and Spanish as well. I was the only one that limited conversation, as I only speak English, and some would say not very well. We had steak for dinner, then played Qwirkle. Afterwards, they headed back. We had tried to start early enough that they could go back while it was still light, but that a did not work out. In the meantime, another boat came in. We have no idea what kind as it was too dark to see anything but their anchor light.

After they left, we started the generator to get hot water for showers and to wash dishes, and Renee’ wanted to watch Ben-Hur. (Auto correct sure did not like that name, it took 4 tries to get it to stay as written.
