March 15, Sunday, Santispac

We woke up as normal, a quiet day had breakfast and listened to a sermon. Chris Brown from NorthCoast, titled “Our Purpose – Identity Theft #2 Oct 21, 2017” based on the rich young ruler, the blind beggar and the tax collector.

Tomorrow we will go out and run the water maker, run a load or two of clothes and go to Chivato to spend the night before we head across to San Carlos.

As we neared the end of the sermon Jeff (from Lost Pearl) came by and we chatted for a bit. He has a drone, and offered to do a flyover of our boat and this anchorage. (I now have the video, which is about 10 minutes long, and will be editing it and possibly adding some music and or narration to it, as it is silent). We are planning to meet ashore with the six of us for a get together and see what happens.

So, we all wound up ashore together. We spent an hour or two at Ana’s restaurant using the WiFi, looking at the books and video’s for trade and getting lunch, then the four of them headed back to their boats to take care of some odds and ends and Renee’ and I ran out in the dinghy to talk to Tom and Brigette on KIA-ORO for a bit, and see their boat, which is an Island Packet 40. We stayed for a bit less than an hour and then went back ashore, and caught up with Jeff, Angie, Josh, Cozette and Bodie. We spent a couple of hours hanging out and talking to Paul (one of the RVer’s here who has a puppy. The four of them want to get into Mulegé and Paul offered them a ride at least one way, so they are meeting up at 10 am tomorrow to get that ride. After the beach we decided to come back to our boat for a game.

We played Qwirkle with all six of us, Cozette won, then the four of them played Pirateer and Cozette won. As the game was nearing the end, Colin and Claudia from Capella III came by and as it was getting late when the game was over we said goodbye for the last time (again) to “our boat kids” as they are heading back to San Diego and their lives. We all, of course, agreed to stay in touch.

We played a game of Qwirkle with Claudette and Colin and then they too headed back to their boat. It was quite dark by this time and then we put our dinghy away and started the generator, and washed dishes when the water was hot enough.

All in all a great day with lots of friends over, a really good end to our stay here in Santispac and probably the end of this chapter of our trip to the Sea of Cortez. (First chapter was down the west coast from San Diego to Ensenada (pretty short) then from Ensenada to San Carlos (broken goose neck), San Carlos to Turtle Bay, Turtle bay for Thanksgiving, Turtle bay to Magdalena bay, Magdalena bay to San Jose Del Cabo, then San Jose Del Cabo to La Paz, La Paz, then La Paz to Santa Rosalia (actually ending tomorrow night at Punta Chivator). The next chapter will start with crossing to San Carlos the next day.

We do have room for guests, if anyone is interested in visiting and spending a week or so with us, drop us a line and we will coordinate. What you have to do/have is you need a passport and will need to be able to get to where we are when you are going to be down. When we know what time frame you are thinking about we can let you know where we expect to be so that you can make your travel arrangements.
