March 5, Thursday, Santa Rosalia

We woke up about 7 am, Renee’ got up and started the coffee, I slept in until about 7:30. Finally drug myself out of bed. It had been kind of cool the night before, so we ran the heater in the salon, which warms the whole boat. It was a nice way to get up, with the boat warm and cozy. I caught up on Facebook while Renee’ made breakfast Quiche with no cheese on my side. It took longer than expected, so we did not have breakfast until about 9:15.

After breakfast, I got started on the projects for the day, changing the oil in the water maker high pressure pump, cleaning all the strainers, and fixing the shower soap dish. (I hit it with my elbow the other day and broke it). Renee’ helped with the soap dish, and everything was done by about 12:30 or so and we headed into town for lunch and a walk.

This town has some interesting history, it was a mining town with Germans, and French being involved in getting the  copper out of the mines and processed. We got some pictures of the downtown where they have some “mines” shown on the wall beside a road, and a center with a train. We also went to the church which is a metal church that is supposed to have been designed by Eiffel the same engineer who designed the tower. We stopped and had ice cream for desert, and then got back to the boat and took naps and read.

Renee’ was working on dinner when another sailboat was coming in right next to us, and I went out to help. It is an Island Packet 420, “Capella III”. We met the crew and then they headed into town for dinner. We had salads for dinner, as our lunch and desert were really big.

Oh, and we got an email today, the friends that were planning on being with us for a week have cancelled, he is dealing with medical issues and pain. So, perhaps later in the year or next year they can come down. We do have room, if anyone is interested in visiting and spending a week or so with us, drop us a line and we will coordinate. What you have to do/have is you need a passport and will need to be able to get to where we are when you are going to be down. When we know what time frame you are thinking about we can let you know where we expect to be so that you can make your travel arrangements.
