Make Me Laugh Again

I was up at the normal time, but Reneé did not feel so well, so she slept in until after 9.

John Pounder arranged to start Monday for pulling wires, which means we have to clean out the aft lazarette, sort of like a garage or Fiber McGee’s closet, for those of you who don’t know this reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9FGC68YcwM 

Well when Reneé was up and about she said she was up for the pool and the cruise up the river with the Pepper’s in their dinghy.  I spent the day on the boat waiting for people to come to the boat for measuring to give us an estimate for the solar welding, and also for Cano to take the dinghy over to the other boat sine it is sold now. 

Cano showed up at about 2:30, and the dinghy was gone! Then we headed up to the pool and enjoyed some company and the pool. Later we took a cruise on their dinghy up the river. Pictures below.

On our way to the showers, we stopped and talked to a man on his beautiful boat, at a 68 foot (on the deck) ketch. It’s Yellow. The man is basically deaf, and getting an ocular implant in a month or so. They were at Yelapa on a mooring ball. The eye on the mooring ball failed, they did not have an anchor alarm on. The first notice they had was when they hit the concrete pier. 

They now have a hole above the water line to fix.

We left for Bucerias at 8:15 hoping to get my bangs cut before the 9:30 Bible study.  Two buses got us to the street where the hairdresser is.  She wasn’t open so we called her and she said she’d open at 11.  We enjoyed a lively discussion and study on John 10.  After the study and a haircut we took a bus to a refrigeration store and bought Freon, hoses and gauges for the compressors on the boat.  Lunch was at Rosita’s Restaurant next to the refrigeration shop.  Two buses to get home.

Cano cleaned the bottom of the boat and took a look at our dinghy to report its condition to our buyer.  Yeah!  It sold!  Cano also looked under the back of the boat for our dinghy anchor which fell in.  He didn’t find it.  I might take s boat hook at low tide and try to find it myself.

We went to the pool for a swim and happy hour.  We ordered hamburgers.  We will stop ordering food at the pool.  The hamburgers give me an upset stomach and the pizza does the same to Neil.

Up at 7 (like always) breakfast, read the Bible and the net. Reneé took the laundry in and Jose brought the correct controllers down to the boat. Communicating with him is difficult for me as he only speaks a little English (slightly more than I speak Spanish). But when we were done, he said he does fabrication work as well (the stainless welding we need), so he is going to get us an estimate by Thursday. I called another guy about an estimate as well.

It is almost 11:30, no sign of Eddie for the mast boot yet.

By 1 pm the mast boot has been replaced. Eddie will be back to rebuild the winch that needs to be rebuilt while I watch and that way I can do the others.

Now the bilge alarm is malfunctioning.

Up slow at about 7:30 or so. Breakfast and listened to the net. I got a text that the solar panels will be here at 9:30. This is sort of earlier than we expected, so Reneé has to go and see if the money is in the bank and get out more pesos. Well she just checked online, and no the money has not transferred yet. So, she is going to try another card that should have money, but with a slightly higher fee for the transfer. We owe 20,447 pesos, and we have 18,000 pesos. This sounds like a lot of money, it is about $1000 total and we are short about $125. We have US dollars, and could pay in US dollars, at 17 pesos to the dollar while the bank gives us a better rate closer to the conversion rate of 20.29 pesos to the dollar.

I was supposed to go over and help Steve Pepper go up his mast this morning at 9 am. I called and told him I would go over after the panels are here.

Well, the panels arrived at about 9 so, I called Steve and told him I would be late. The panels took a bit to get onto the boat, and by the time I was done with all that, Steve had gotten a neighbor to help him. Reneé was able to get the money and we paid for everything. The controllers he brought were the wrong ones, and he said that he would have the correct one either today or tomorrow.

Chava came down after the panels were on the boat to get final measurements and later in the day he got back to us with estimates. WOW! Welding for these panels will be expensive.
Eddie Vargas (the guy working on the mast boot) said he would by the boat tomorrow between 10 and 11.

We got the dinghy cover all back on the boat and pictures for the dinghy to list it for sale. Put it up on Facebook in the Banderas Bay group and sold it in about 15 minutes. Well we will see when we get the money.

We headed to the pool about 4 pm and swam for an hour or so then happy hour to dry off. Then back to the boat for dinner and change. We met Steve and Denny in the hospitality suite for a game of Mexican Train (dominos). Finally back to the boat showers and bed.

It was hard to wake up today.  We were up to 11pm last night.  I’m afraid I’m getting old and need more sleep.  I’m not speaking for Neil.  Sweet Neil asked me what I wanted to do for Mother’s Day.  I wanted to go to church then have lunch at a restaurant by the beach. Usually we go out with a church group after church to a breakfast place.  I wanted lunch.

We went to Dugarel’s Plays (yes that is the spelling).  We did join some church friends there.  Then two busses back to the boat.  At four we headed out to the pool for aqua aerobics and happy hour.  We sat by the Peppers.  We usually have a beer but today we ordered a chunky monkey, a creamy chocolate and brandy drink.  We will go back to beer.  We made plans to get together with the Peppers tomorrow for a game of Mexican Train.  I got calls from both sons today which was wonderful!  I called my mom and Neil called his mom.  All in all a wonderful day!
