Sunday November 20, 2022 Yelapa

(posted 12/23/22)

Up at 7, a pretty rolly night. We will watch a sermon from one of the ones we have stored on the hard drive. Then we will, get picked up for a trip ashore at 10. We have to be back by about 4:30, so dinner will be aboard tonight.

We walked to the nearby waterfall, and were disappointed to find that all the little shops were closed (Sunday) it was a bit on the chilly side, so the water was cold. After the waterfall, we walked down into the town for lunch and beer. Then back to the boat and off to go snorkeling. This was excellent snorkeling! Finally back to the boat (by about 3:15) and start the generator (battery was 80%) but we need hot water for showers. We will charge the battery and heat the water. Tonight’s dinner requires BBQ’ing again. We will either watch a movie or play a game this evening.

Up at 7, breakfast, and bible reading. Then I ran Reneé into the dinghy dock for the swap meet. Then I went back to the boat and got the trash (our dinghy is really pretty small). On the way in, I ran out of gas, and got towed to the dinghy dock. A bit later, I got a ride back to the boat by Robert in Dave’s boat. Discovered the cap for the gas tank with gas in it was broken, so I made a bit of a mess. Finally got it taken care of and back to the dinghy dock and picked up Reneé and back to the boat with the stuff that didn’t sell. Once we were back at the boat, I gave John and Laura a ride in so they could walk to the fish market. Finally back to the boat and from there we headed across the bay to Yelapa we attempted to sail, but once again the wind wasn’t there.

We got a mooring ball and put out a stern anchor. About an hour later we had moved about 100 feet from where we tied up to the mooring ball. We had friends in the marina who had broken off a mooring ball earlier this year, and woke up when they ran into the dock. We are watching very close.
John is BBQing dinner, and I am beat, this has been a long day.

Dinner and then a little chatting, bed and listening to the music on shore.

Up at 7, breakfast, bible reading and the net. Reneé walked over to the office to check us out and John and I worked on the dinghy. When Reneé and Laura got back from the office John and I were about done and put the dinghy away and we got ready and left the marina. The plan was for some sailing as we crossed to La Cruz, but the wind did not cooperate so not much sailing.

After we anchored we relaxed for a bit then went ashore for appetizers and to watch the dancing horses. On our way back to the boat, we ran into the other cruisers, and I gave Dave the adapter for the gas to the outboard.

Up at 6:30 (for Reneé to make breakfast) then everyone up by 7. Breakfast and devotions then off the boat for a day of downtown stuff. On the good side, we are close to downtown.

Off the boat by 9 am and caught the bus downtown. A good walk along the Malecon and then a beer at the Blue Lobster followed by a walk to Los Muertos and a couple of beers that we split between the three of us. Then fish tacos at Marismas street fish taco shop. Finally a trip to Oscars, where we hoped to see Fransisco, but he had the day off. Oh well.

Back at the boat, I got a nap while the rest of them went to the pool.

Now, it is 6 pm and we are heading to shop on our way to dinner at Victor’s at the other side of the marina.

Dinner was good, the service was slow. The shops market was going and we shopped both directions. Finally back on the boat and preparing for bed by 9:15.

Up at 7, breakfast the net and bible reading. Reneé is going to take the laundry in and I am going to wash the boat.

Busy day, laundry got done, the boat got washed, the inside of the boat got a dusting and light cleaning, then we had an hour or two to relax.

At about 4:45, I headed to the airport. I walked up to Zaragoza to catch a bus to go to the airport. After about 6 buses that were not going to the airport, I got a text from John and they were through customs and (I thought about to walk out of the airport), so I grabbed a taxi and 50 pesos later I was at the airport and got another text and they were just getting to immigration. Just about then they came out and we headed back to the marina.

They unpacked and we had dinner then walked around the marina. This marina is huge and crowded. It is 3/4 of a mile to the office and bathrooms. All the shops are aimed at gringos and high end spenders. Probably my least favorite marina in Mexico.
