Up at 7 am, breakfast and the net, then bible reading. Today we have generator work scheduled. Storm (soon to be a hurricane) Rosalyn is headed our way, faster than expected so should be here tomorrow. Roughly 6 hours earlier than previously expected.
By 3:30 this afternoon, our generator was fixed!!! For all the details, check the blog entry GENERATOR SAGA. We went to the pool to celebrate, then back for dinner and a movie. Showers and bed.
Up at about 7:30. Breakfast and the net. Bible reading after that.
We are getting reports of an earthquake in Panama and a hurricane expected in the next couple of days.
I have been communicating with Richard’s guys (generator repair) and John Pounder (rewire of stereo and XM). The generator repair is scheduled for tomorrow, and the stereo work on Tuesday (as always plans are written in the sand at low tide).
We have a load of laundry in the washer and Reneé is making bread today. There is a presentation today at 4 pm dealing with weather for the summer and especially the hurricane. Danny and Robin (SV All Set For Now), are due at 5:30 and will go with us to the potluck at 6 pm. At this point I would say a pretty busy day for us.
Danny and Robin backed out today, they have stuff to do getting ready for the hurricane. We filled the water tank. Reneé made a load of bread. I cleaned the bilge. So, what that means, outside temp is 97°F and 56% humidity, with the hatches open and AC off (it’s AC or water maker not both) it is 94°F and 60% humidity. We will be done soon and get the AC back.
By 3:45, the water tank was full, 143 gallons of 2 ppm water added to top off our 260 gallon tank. Just a bit more than 4 hours start to finish. We got the AC on, and relaxed for a couple of hours then went to the potluck. A major topic of discussion was the approaching hurricane. It is tracking for Puerto Vallarta, and is expected late Saturday/early Sunday morning.

Up at 7 am, breakfast the net, and off to catch the bus. Today the traffic was terrible, our driver for the first half decided to take a short cut and saved about 20 minutes. We were still late. The Bible study was led by a YWAM representative. The study was the second lesson of three on the book of Philemon, it’s a very short book, with only 1 chapter and only 25 verses.
After the study, we walked to Brenda’s restaurant for lunch then to Bob and Iris’s for the pool party.
Finally back to the boat by 4pm, where we did nothing for the rest of the day. Showers then bed.
Up at 7, I replaced the filter on the holding tank vent (it had to dry out before filling it with carbon). Then Reneé started our sheets in the washer and made a breakfast casserole. She is headed to Refuge of Hope this morning to help there.
From the net this morning, we have another hurricane headed towards San Blas (north of us) in the next week.
Plans for the day:
Fix latch on cabinet
Tighten rack for paddle boards
Sell the rack for the solar panels
Install holding tank vent filter
While Reneé started the sheets, I forgot they were going and did not take them out until she got back to the boat. OOPS! Well they got hung up to dry. I was able to sell the frame for the solar panels (so all of the stuff is now gone!). Reneé forgot her phone today while she was at one of the stores. She called me (from a borrowed phone) and asked me to find it for her using the FIND MY PHONE, I was able to identify where it was and she caught a bus back and got it, the lady at the store had seen the phone and just put it aside waiting for her to come back.
I waited for Gareth to get here and he finally arrived at 4 pm. We are planning on leaving at 4:30 to go to the pool and then later we are having game night with the other cruisers.
Up at 7, breakfast and the net. Did our bible reading and the generator repair guys are supposed to be here at about 10 am. Our day did not start out well. The guys who pump holding tanks here in the marina were all set up to pump us out on Thursday and we thought that they did, but apparently not. So, we had a nasty surprise in our forward head at the vent for the holding tank. We got them to come and pump us out promptly today, YEAH! And I have cleaned up the floor, I will wait until the guys working on the generator leave to change the vent filter as I expect it to stink quite a bit.
The generator guys arrived on time and began working. They identified some issues in addition to the exciter coil being bad. I will only say the work is on going. For the full story on the generator, see the post titled GENERATOR REPAIR SAGA.
Reneé went to aqua aerobics today as well as making a trip to the bank and the office.
