Thursday May 26, 2022 Paradise Village Marina

Up at 7, breakfast, the net. John Pounder was supposed to be here to start electrical work, but he has a meeting to attend and will be here on Monday instead. The welder’s helper is supposed to be here today, so I will be sticking around to observe.

Reneé is off to Refuge of Hope, she is going to go listen to Mexican kids who are learning to read (in Spanish) for a couple of hours. We will do our bible reading later today.

The welder’s worker and helper were here and took off the old solar panels and removed the frame, then cut off the supports and ground off the remains then polished the pipe, I can’t tell where they were welded on before. We are planning to sell the frame, the two panels and the solar controller. This might happen to a local this time or year or we will have to wait until next season as there is virtually no other sailors still here.

Charlie was here to work on the aft AC. He says we need chlorine tablets in the sea water side to clean out the heat exchanger and to add some freon. He will be back tomorrow with the freon. I will go to the marine store here in the marina to see about the chorine.

We had dinner played cards and went to bed.

Reneé said the bus was a bit crowded
This is the “before” picture with the rack for the solar panels, note the welded on supports to the arch
This is the “after” picture the rack is removed and the arch is polished and looks like that rack was never there.

The plan is to get up and off the boat by 8:30, catch the bus to get to church for the Bible study, then after wards go to the pool/pool party (the ladies swim the guys play pool). Later we are going out to dinner with everyone for Bob’s birthday. A long day away from the boat.

Well, it happened pretty much as expected. We got a ride after church with Larry and Valerie to lunch then to the pool party, followed by the dinner party, then back to the boat where we gave them a tour of our boat. Then showers and bed. A long day with good friends.

The ribs while a bit dry were still very good.
This is the group, we are celebrating Bob’s birthday.
They had a pretty good stout.

Up, breakfast, the net, flushed the outboard and oiled the locks. Reneé made beans.

I caught up on the blog, it takes a couple of hours to publish a weeks worth of posts.

Around 4 we went to the pool, had happy hour and then went into a restaurant for dinner. Back to the boat and remembered we needed to move it back to make it easier for the guys working on Thursday. So, we worked on that for an hour or so, and then off to get showers, and back to the boat. Kyle is calling this evening to go over our mail.

One of the shows at the resort that we did not go to.

Up and missed the net, we overslept a bit. Chava the welder was here. We talked about what he is doing and when he would be back (Thursday). I replaced the drum on the Jib furler. We went to the beach to watch some of the Laser races that are going on, (very small sailboats) then happy hour and the pool and back to the boat.

Sunday May 22, 2022 Paradise Village Marina

Up and out the door to church, we made it before the first song. Afterwards we went out to brunch with the usual people, then went to the store and back to the boat. The rest of the day was very lazy, we did not even go to happy hour or the pool. We watched the third back to the future movie, then showers and bed.
