I did not sleep well this morning, I woke up about 5 am and could not get back to sleep. I was thinking about all the stuff that is coming up, moving the boat, selling it moving back to Tennessee etc.
Then after breakfast listen to the net. We will check out with the marina and the port captain then head over to La Cruz to get fuel and finally for the day end up in the anchorage at La Cruz.
We got diesel (43 gallons) and gas (13 gallons) at the fuel dock. About $359!! Yikes! $6.16 average cost per gallon. On the other hand, we now have 160 gallons of fuel in the main tank, plus two 5 gallon cans on the side of the boat. We have 3 gallons on the dinghy and two 5 gallon cans on the side. This gas for the dinghy will almost certainly be enough for the whole season. We will plan on getting fuel either in Santa Rosalia or Puerto Escondido on Baja. We will need about 1/2 tank to get up to Puerto Peñasco from Santa Rosalia and back. Getting fuel up there is a matter of taking fuel cans to the gas station and back to the boat, then pouring it in. While less expensive it is a pain.
We anchored about 1 pm, and finally had lunch. Then a nap for me, that helped a bunch. We found a line that was run incorrectly and had to be redone (one of the preventers went through the eye of a a dock line). After the nap we got about two hours of exercise, we got the dinghy down and the outboard on it and running. Then outboard off and dinghy and outboard back into storage. We are in one of the only places we have heard about theft issues. So, the dinghy is locked to the boat, the outboard is locked to the boat, the propane, diesel and gas cans are all locked to the boat, as is the kayak and the paddle boards. We have installed a temporary motion sensor light on the back deck as well. I really hate that we have to take these precautions.
Now it is time for happy hour and a float behind the boat.
