La Cruz, March 20, Saturday

We listened to the Net, and coordinated a visit to see Mike with PV Sails to finalize our order. This was scheduled for 3 pm, but we were running a few minutes late and just as we were about to leave the boat, the radio came alive with information about a conflict in progress between the CARTEL and the NATIONAL GUARD, not really local, but the officials were asking the cruisers and ex-pats to stay home and not on the road for at least the day. Oh, and the announcement was made by Mike the guy we were meeting with. As a comparison, the conflict is between the CARTEL and the POLICE/NATIONAL GUARD, in general neither side involves civilians, as opposed to gang land violence in say Detroit or East Los Angeles.   Mike introduced us to a few of his strange pets…a possum (found as a baby and raised in the home), some ducks, a three legged dog (the fourth leg was run over by Mike’s car…sadly), and two cats (one named Stoner – see photo below).

At the end of the day we watched the first hour and 35 minutes of Ben Hur

Just another sunrise, headed out to dump the holding tank
Meet Stoner the cat, he apparently really like Gecko tails, which are at least mildly hallucinogenic, he eats the tails, and has been known to walk into a glass door repeatedly. He is one of the pets at the sail loft, they have rescue dogs, ducks and a opossum.
So, to put things in perspective, a kg is 2.2 lbs, and that price is in Pesos, which are approximately 20 pesos to the dollar. So, 250 pesos is $12.50 US. That would probably be about 6 meals for the two of us. We don’t drink cola so, not sure what we would do with that, but it is included.
