Taking the seanic route
We were up and listened to the net, then off to catch the bus and get to the Bible study at church. After church, we had lunch at a restaurant on the main road and then walked to Chedrauii a local chain store that is similar to Walmart. We did some shopping then back on the bus and back to the hotel. Then off to the boat and putting some things away and moving things around.
We were up and listened to the net, then off to the boat. The guys from the sail loft were at the boat by 9 am and started working on removing the old sails. They stoped around 1 pm due to wind issues and started back at 4 pm. In the morning, there were 3 of them working, in the afternoon at least 5. The main sail (that had ripped) apparently had gotten pretty well tied up and as a result it came out of the roller furling in little pieces. Good thing we have new sails here in La Cruz. They will go up after we are out of the yard. There was some work done on drying out the keel, and we got shore power on the boat.
Up at 0700, breakfast, the net, reading the Bible, then I had a list of stuff to get off the boat, and needed to check on the keel, and status on the sails.
Reneé walked over to the gate, and got a package she ordered from Amazon Mexico. Some solar lights for the boat, only took a couple of days to get here. We are still waiting on a package mailed in the states on 11/24. Maybe today, or tomorrow.
I got to the boat and organized the stuff on my list, listened to the weekly call from the Panama Posse, then down off the boat, where I found a young lady using a blow dryer on the keel, blowing hot air in to a hole in the keel. We will see when the work gets done. I am not as worried about speed as I am about the repair being done correctly.
Reneé is shopping, partly for two orphans that we picked up there wish lists in the lounge at the marina. She said she would be back for lunch.
Sunday – we were up early so I could go back to the boat in the shipyard for two bags of clothes we want to donate to a children’s ministry at church. We caught a van to Bucerias for church. We did not join the after church group at Rhythm and Blues because we had a lot to talk about. We may seem carefree in Mexico but there are concerns in the states that require our attention and much prayer.
It was a lazy afternoon. I took a dip in the pool here at the La Cruz Inn and we got naps. We had an early dinner then took a walk to the boat.
We discovered Amazon.Mex! We can order from it, use our Amazon Prime acct and have it delivered to the marina (no one day shipping). It’s really cool! We get tracking, emails on the progress and everything!
Up at 6:30. Breakfast and Bible reading, then finish prepping the boat for haul out.
Our neighbors helped move the boat. We stopped at the pump out dock, to pump out and get the survey guy on board. He was bringing his boat over to La Cruz, but ran out of fuel, sailing but no wind. So, he didn’t get to check the engine at operating temperature.
We arrived at the pump out dock between 0830 & 0900, got our holding tank pumped out, then lined up on the lift. We got to the first strap at 0930, right on schedule, right in the middle of the lift, no issues, no need for language Spanish or spare fenders. Better to be ready and not need it….
The survey guy (John) arrived after we were out, and checked the hull, and saw the damage, then the fiberglass guy ground out the fiberglass that needed to get fixed and the water started draining. I am guessing 5 gallons or more of water came out. This may delay our getting back in the water next week.
In the meantime, we are staying at the La Cruz Inn, Avery nice quaint hotel and restaurant. This is the restaurant that has dancing horses Friday nights.
