We ran around doing shopping for a couple of hours. Then finally drove up to Steve and Denny’s place near Sedona. We chatted for a while, then went to Montezuma’s well. It started snowing (hail?) so, we didn’t stay long. More chatting.
Every so often Steve would check the hot tub temperature. It eventually got to almost 100 degrees and we got in. A crystal clear night, lots of stars.
Then bed.

Today is a travel day. We were up at 0630, had breakfast and out the door so we could walk to the shuttle. 4 passengers and a driver in a 7 passenger van. Then off to the border. At the border, we paid for our ride, $55 each, then walked across the border. Got into a bigger van 15 passengers, now 5 of us and continued on our way. At the drop off spot we got an Uber to get our rental car. This is a shuttle ride that takes about an hour and a half for the part up to the border in a van, then a walk across the border and get into another van and then about a 2 and a half hour ride to Phoenix.
We did some shopping then went to the hotel checked in. Out for dinner then bed by 9. A long day of travel.
The plan for today is to clean the through hulls from the outside. IF we see the guys that will clean the bottom of the boat (sand it in preparation for bottom pain) we will talk to them about what we are looking for.
Well, I got a picture from Salvador of the guys sanding the bottom of our boat! This was at 0747, we typically get up by 7 and to the boat by 9. We are retired after all.
So, the cleaning of through hulls will wait.
We worked on planning the trip to see Steve and Denny Pepper. We will take a shuttle from here at about 0930 and get to Phoenix by 2 or 3 (maybe?) then get an Uber to the car rental in Scottsdale, then a quick trip to Costco, then a hotel for Friday night. In the morning a trip to Sam’s Club then up to see Steve and Denny. Arriving Saturday afternoon (they are in San Carlos Mexico, preparing their boat S/V Brendan for sale) we will stay with them until Monday morning and then take the rental car back and get an Uber to the pickup point for the shuttle. Steve and Denny live north of Phoenix near Sedona. About 2 hours drive from where we pick up the rental car, but they won’t get home until Friday night.
Tuesday next week will be paint day, and back in the water on Wednesday! We have arranged for an end tie at the Safe Marina (where we have an apartment) so it will be fairly easy to get our stuff back on the boat.

Reneé took the laundry in. 6 bags of stuff. Neil went to the boat to get started on the days work. 1st to work on the toilet in the fwd head. The problem has been a slow leak that causes the pump to cycle A LOT! Well step one get the windows and portholes open. Down side to that was I broke the knob on one of the porthole clamps. So, that meant I had to find the spare and replace it. Done, next I turned on the pump for the forward (fwd) head, and put some water in the toilet. The pump cycled a couple of times then stopped. 3 hours later it had still not run. So, the parts will get put away for another day. Next up was the fan in the aft head. I turned on the toilet pump in the aft head and the fan works. Another project done. Next up was to setup the Starling and router, this is not final placement, just testing. WOW!! It is easy and works very fast!
Reneé cleaned the cockpit and rearranged the forward stateroom. Finally we decided that we were done for the day. So, we headed back to the apartment, and decided that with everything basically done we would take a trip back to Phoenix to visit some friends Denny and Steve Pepper. We will leave here Friday morning, get a rental car and do some shopping, then a hotel Friday night and see them Saturday and Sunday then travel back down here on Monday.

It was a rainy day. We started out taking care of our taxes. This is going to be a big year for us. We worked in 2023, we sold a house in Florida that we never lived in for a bunch more than we bought it for. We lived in Missouri, we bought a house in Tennessee. So we have federal income tax to pay, Missouri state income tax to pay, and capital gains tax to pay. We got our documents in order and sent to our tax guy.
Then off to the boat to see what we can get done. I asked on the swap meet about a cable for between the DVD player and the TV.Jean had one to spare. So the TV is done.
I replaced one of the slides for our hatch. Reneé cleaned the fans. I think the next job is to work on the forward toilet pump. The other big job is to clean all the winches, there are 5 left to clean and grease.
We asked Salvador when the lift should be ready, he say tomorrow. Well we will see.
