Saturday December 03, 2022 Agua Verde to Puerto Escondido

Up at 5:30 or so, VERY rolly anchorage, underway by 7 am. In a slip and water maker running by 11:35. We started down the wrong fairway in the marina and I backed a couple of blocks (longest ever in this boat!).

We have reserved 2 nights, but I want to get out of here tomorrow. Between now and then, some stuff has to get done. Fill the water tank, change oil on the engine, clean strainers, swap out the chart plotter at the nav station that has stopped working, and some other odds and ends.

New chart plotter installed (bad screen!) it will have to go back. Water maker run 165 gallons topped off. Oil change delayed while waiting for oil at the market. The guy went to Loretto to get it, OOPS! No 15W40 oil. I asked on the dock and the first guy walking by had it! What didn’t happen was getting fuel, so we will get it at Santa Rosalia. Some notes:

$2.55 (USD) per foot slip fee’s (we paid for two nights, changed our plans and tried to get our money back for one night, NOPE), highest we have seen anywhere. High prices in the market high fuel prices etc. Oh and yeah there is a price hike coming. But, the marina is full, which explains why they can raise the rates.

Friday December 02, 2022 Isla San Fransisco to Agua Verde

Up at 5:30 to get going and at anchor by 3 pm. Breakfast and bible study underway. At Aqua Verde we had beer and chips while Reneé went to the Tiende (little store). We anchored in Pyramid cove, seemed pretty calm, but not as the night progressed.

Thursday December 01, 2022 Los Muertos to Isla San Fransisco

Up at 6:00, underway at 7. Breakfast and bible reading underway. It was another long day. We saw a few dolphin and a few boats, but it was a pretty boring day. (That is a good thing). We anchored twice (the first time our depth gauge was bouncing between 15 and 30 feet, probably means a variety of rocks). So we pulled it up and moved. There are about 20 boats at anchor here, and we plan to be among the first to leave in the morning.

It was disappointing to sail/motor past Espritu Santo and Partida knowing that there were many good/great anchorages. But we have a schedule to keep! So we keep moving.

Tomorrow we are headed to Agua Verde about 55 miles to the north. The plan is to get there early enough to make a grocery run.

Bob comfortably “driving” the boat. Everything is in auto, but needs to be watched as well as checking for other boats.

Wednesday November 30, 2022 Bahia Matanchen to Los Muertos

We continued across the sea. We saw a few more dolphin and lots of birds. As we approached Baja, we saw a few large cargo and tanker ships and quite a few pleasure boats, but none very close to us. Overall a fairly uneventful crossing. Even so, this not one we are likely to do ever again.

We anchored at Los Muertos in about 25 feet of water at about 11 am. About 52.5 hours underway, well over 300 miles by the chart plotter calculation. There are 5 sailboats and 1 motor yacht at anchor here. After showers and lunch, we will put the dinghy down and go ashore.

Tuesday November 29, 2022 Bahia Matanchen to Los Muertos

I was already up, and as Reneé and Bob came on deck we had breakfast and shifted around who was napping. I saw a seal, and we saw more dolphins. Again, we did our devotions, and had lunch and dinner on deck.

I worked on pictures for blog today. I have the text for November 10 through the 29th written, and now I have the pictures from the 10 th to the 23 rd ready to upload. We have had a busy month. I will get the rest of the pictures ready in a day or two.
