Up at 7, breakfast, the net and organize for the day. Plans include

      • Arrange flight for my friend Bob
      • laundry,
      • Installing the DVD player for the aft stateroom,
      • baking a loaf of bread,
      • getting together with Danny and Robin from SV All Set For Now.
      • Then the Potluck.

A pretty busy day for us.

I spoke with Tom from MasPower this morning about installing the generator. All of this by 9 am.

No estimate yet about the generator.

Well everything we had planned happened, some good news some not so good. Our friend Danny is doing well following his brain tumor/surgery etc. Robin has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is going for a lumpectomy soon. Oh, and they hired a captain to move their boat to La Cruz and back for bottom paint, on the way back there was something wrong and the engine seized, and they were towed back to La Cruz, they are having issues finding a replacement engine. No insurance for the medical or the engine.

Then the potluck, nothing special there just about 20 people having a good time over dinner. Followed by showers and bed.

The estimate for the generator came in late, as expected it “ain’t cheap, it’s a boat”.

Up at 7 breakfast and the Net. Reneé is going to the Bible study at church and I am waiting for the guy to look at our generator. So, the guy who was supposed to be here did not show. I called the next two guys I had recommendations for, and 1 of them showed up at about 3 pm. They left at about 6 pm, they are done testing to convince themselves that the generator needs to be replaced, they said they will get an estimate to us possibly today, and could start work on Monday. There were 3 guys. I am pretty happy with how it looked today, they showed up in uniforms (rarely seen in Mexico) and were very professional about what they were doing.
After we wrapped everything up after dinner we took a walk down to the beach and it was good to stretch my legs. We ran in Jodie, and chatted with her a bit then back to the boat, showers and bed. I set up the portable battery charger for the generator start battery.

Up at 7, breakfast, the net and then Reneé started the sheets in the washer, and I started working on the blog. Reneé is off to the Refuge of Hope to volunteer for the day, we will do our bible reading when she gets back. After the sheets are done, I am going to run the water maker and fill the water tank.

As of 4 pm, Reneé is back, the water tank is full (138 gallons, about 1/2 tank). I wish the level gauge worked! This was 10 days use since last filled. So, bible reading then happy hour at the pool.

Back to the boat for dinner and then off to game night Mexican Train at the the lounge.

The reason we are going to take the boat north to Puerto Peñasco for haul out. Conversion rate is approximately 20 pesos to the dollar. So, about $10,000 to park the boat for the year. The monthly parking rate up north is about $300.
Reneé was looking at some old pics and thought this should be here.

Up at 7, had breakfast then off to the bus stop where we met Jodi and headed off to church. Normally this usually took us close to an hour, with up to a 15 minute wait for each of the two buses. Today, there was no waiting, so we got to church at about 9:30, and the service started at 10. After church we walked to a new restaurant, and then back to the bus and back to the boat. We said goodbye to Jodi when we got off the bus and she walked back to Paradise Village and we went back to the boat. I took a nap and Reneé read her book.

The guy who bought the solar stuff was back today and picked up the panels and now all that is left is the frame. Then off to the pool for happy hour.

When we got back we had dinner, got showers and watched a movie “The Sunset Limited”, then bed.

Saturday October 8, 2022 Paradise Village Marina

I think we will shift our normal wake up time to 7:30 instead of 7. It seems to be easier to get out of bed after the sun is up, or at least close. (Sunrise this morning was 7:53). We watched the movie “Cliffhanger” from 1993. It was ok, but I really don’t like heights and a bunch of this movie involved heights. Listened to the net, and did our bible reading.

Today we don’t have anything specifically planned. So, perhaps we will do some cleaning or putting away of things. Or maybe go for a walk?

Well as of noon, we have searched for the porthole knob (we have the tool to replace it and we bought three of them, even though we only need 1) so far no luck. Cano came and looked at our keel coolers for the refrigeration both are clean, and worked on clearing the hose for the aft AC unit. The hose is clear, but the AC heat exchanger is plugged.

Off to the pool for happy hour. While there we met a lady by the name of Jodi, we invited her to church with us in the morning. Then back to the boat, played a game of Rummy 500, then showers and bed.

There she is the love of my life!
