Sunday January 16, 2022, Marina Vallarta to La Cruz

Up at a reasonable time, breakfast and then prep for underway. Reneé walked to the office and turned in our keys, while I got shore power off and did odds and ends to get the boat ready. While working through this, I figured out that the stop button wasn’t working well for the engine. It had started being an issue while we were working on the tachometer on Saturday. So, this will be something to see if I can get a new one here before we leave. I rigged up a wire that allowed me to stop the engine and then we motored across the bay to La Cruz.

We pulled into the marina and figured out that the microphone for the radio on deck is not working well, so I  swapped it for the spare.

We discussed possibly staying here for a week or so, and taking a land based trip inland to Guadalajara we mentioned it on the dock and one of our neighbors said that they had done that so, they came over and we had chips and salsa and discussed it. By the end of the day, we had pretty much decided to just head south on Wednesday.

There was a race on.

Saturday January 15, 2022, Marina Vallarta

Up around 7 am. Breakfast, bible reading and the net. Reneé walked to Zaragoza to check on a part for a roller furling Jib that got broken. (It is plastic and not vital, but still…).  I got a hold of a diesel electrician (Finally!) and he was scheduled for about noon. Of course Dave and Darcy came by at about 11 am and with Reneé headed down to Puerto Vallarta. After Beto was done working on the boat (diagnosing the speed sensor as the issue), I got organized and took an InDriver ride to meet them. We walked a bit, had some snacks, then went to Oscar’s for Tequila tasting. Afterwards, we went to the Blue Shrimp for dinner then back to our boat for Reneê and I, and Paradise Village for Dave and Darcy.

We used the InDriver App. I have talked to a couple of different drivers about this, apparently not only is Uber slow to pay, but it takes about 50% of the fee for the ride. InDriver only takes about 10%, and you pay in cash, the driver has to pay InDriver. Which explains why it is so hard to find an Uber driver.

Friday January 14, 2022, Marina Vallarta

Up late (around 7:30 or so). The net, breakfast and then get organized and off the boat. Dave and Darcy moving to Paradise Village and Reneé and I went to get our stuff off our friends boat. By earlier afternoon, we were back with our stuff and did some cleaning. The laundry will wait, but at least most of the stuff got put away.

No pictures and a very quiet day

Thursday January 13, 2022, Yalapa to Marina Vallarta

We were up early (around 6 am) and got underway about 8 am, after it started getting light. We motored across, there was about 21 knots of wind in the Yalapa cove, but about 3-6 knots on the nose as we crossed Banderas Bay.

Pool time, filled the water tank, shopping in the market, finally dinner at Victor’s

Wednesday January 12, 2022, Yalapa Hike to both waterfalls

Ok, so only the lady’s made it to the second waterfall. The first waterfall is about a 2 and half hour hike (or longer in this case round trip, again the pictures tell the story of the first hike. Afterwards, we were on the beach enjoying a beverage, then the ladies headed off to see the second waterfall. See the pictures for that as well. As Dave and I watched the various beach bars and restaurants close for the day, we headed into town for a restaurant for dinner. As we walked along, I found a cell phone in the surf and gave it to one of the ladies running a bar, and she said she could get it back to the owner. We ran into Reneé and Darcy and turned around to go find dinner. Dave and I caught a water taxi into town, the girls elected to walk. We met in town and had dinner. I checked in with our scheduled water taxi, who told us he quit’s at 6 pm, and we were out of luck with him getting us back to the boat. We got to the pier and we were looking for the regular 7:30 pm water taxi, (which apparently doesn’t exist), and a guy that was dealing with trash (maybe?) said he could get us back to our boat. He got a kid who grabbed a kayak and took it out to a Panga, (no paddles) and in the dark brought it in and got us and took us back to our boat, where suddenly the price for the ride went up (not really unexpected). In any case we were back on our boat. The end to a rather long day.
