Friday June 17, 2022 Paradise Village Marina

Up at 7:30 or so. Breakfast and the net, then bible reading. At 9:45 we went over to help with a valve on S/V All Set For Now, Danny and Robin, he is the one who had a brain tumor removed recently. He is still not allowed to be left alone for fear of seizures, so she had to coordinate having help with him while I helped with the valve on the boat. He is doing very well, up and walking/talking etc. He is having issues with coarse motor skills, like throwing a ball etc. but he is getting better.

After that back to the boat and watching as John continued with the electrical work on the boat. By the time he left we had one of the panels in service and charging the battery.

Reneé and I put the canopy on the forward part of the boat, we are waiting on the after canopy for the final electrical work on the arch.

At about 4:30 while Reneé had some beans cooking (hot water, stove off) we went to the lap pool for a dip and then back to the boat for dinner showers and a movie (Airplane).

Thursday June 16, 2022 Paradise Village Marina

Up at 7 ish. Breakfast and the net, then Reneé headed off to the refuge of hope to work with the kids there. John showed up and worked for a couple of hours on wiring. We discussed the generator issues and he has some ideas. So we will see what happens there.

The guys were by to pump out the holding tank, while they were here, I got to thinking about one of the irksome little issues we have, which is that the port side deck drain doesn’t drain. I have tried running water down with the hose nozzle, and also up from where it comes out of the boat, nothing seems to work for very long, and nothing really comes out either. So, I asked them to suck on the drain with the vacuum hose. They got some stuff out the top, then I used the hose from down below and after several times of on for a while and off, I got a huge glob of some stuff out the bottom and now the drain works! YEAH!! We will see how long that works.

The boat bottom got cleaned today, a new zinc was installed on the shaft.

A “zinc” is a sacrificial anode. What that means is it made of a material that has free electrons, and has a greater potential than the “good” metal stuff we have on the bottom of the boat that is exposed to the water.

The plan was: Tonight we are going to the movies with Val and Larry to see the movie “Maverick Top Gun”.  They will be driving and we are leaving from here about 6 pm for a 7:30 pm movie.

What actually happened: Larry was not feeling well, so the movie was canceled. Instead we went to the community room and played Mexican train. There were 11 of us, so two tables. Different rules than we have played before. No score keeping.

Then back to the boat, showers and bed.

I am glad this cats are in cages, I do wish they were in a bigger area to “play” in.
More pictures of our neighbors, this is a very small iguana.

Up as usual at about 7, breakfast the net and then head to the bus for the Bible study. As always it takes two buses to get there and then we walk about a half mile. We were a few minutes late and they were on the second song when we walked in. This was a very good discussion on John 17.
Afterwards we went to lunch at Jorge’s with Larry and Val then over to Bob and Iris’s for pool and pool. We also played Mexican Train and stayed longer than we intended, and not getting back to the boat until about 7 pm. A lite dinner then as we were heading out to get showers we noted that it was raining. Well, oh well.

So, we watched the movie Top Gun (one from the collection we got from the other boat. After the movie, it was still raining, so we used umbrellas and walked to the showers. Again no crocodiles, only a couple of cats hanging out under the ramps.

Tuesday June 14, 2022 Paradise Village Marina

Up at 7ish. Breakfast, the net then turn the boat around. We are now in the position the boat will be in for the rest of the summer.

We have hooked up shore power and internet to the boat.

I called about our dinghy, and while I was told it should get to the importer yesterday, we are “on the schedule” for today. I will call later to check on it.

After lunch we did our Bible reading.

Charlie is due to fix the aft A/C (NO SHOW AGAIN, I think we will find someone else to fix this, perhaps in the fall).

84.9 °F, 34% humidity inside the boat, 98.1 °F & 53%.
The other numbers are for the freezer and refrigerator.

Up at 7:30 (slow). Breakfast, the net, then turn the boat around.

We put the anchor down on the dock then all 300 feet of chain. I rinsed it with fresh water and washed the anchor locker. Then after the chain was dry we put it back. Then we washed the boat. This should be relatively cool, after all we are running the hose and spraying it with water. But the temperature was about 95° and 80% humidity.

After lunch, we did our Bible reading.
